Pilar Gordillo is a Peruvian multimedia artist based in Seattle, WA. Her work intersects digital media and traditional art forms by mimicking digital textures through painting techniques and repurposing devices to generate visual outcomes.
Growing up in Lima in the 90s and drawing early influence from Chicha art, a popular form of street propaganda that reshaped the city landscape, Pilar’s practice explores the elemental manifestations of color and the human-environment relationship. She received a Bachelor of Science in Visual Communications and Design from San Francisco State University, where she started her career in multimedia.
In her current work, she unlearns the rigid design principles of her formal training, using her studio practice to reconnect with her own perception. This inner guidance allows her to refine raw experiments into immersive stories that reflect both her heritage and her evolving artistic voice. In addition to self-publishing the book Paranormales and completing commissions in Seattle, San Francisco, and Lima, Pilar is currently an artist-in-residence at Actualize and works as a creative director.
